I love Graphic Audio.
First, let me say that this isn’t a paid advertisement, although sometimes I feel like I should be compensated for spreading my love of their work to others.
Graphic Audio is a company that does full cast readings of books. And by full cast, I mean just that: all the characters are voiced by different people, and there is music and sound effects. These aren’t cheaply done. Their tagline is “A Movie In Your Mind.” And it’s true.
What have they done that’s of interest of comic book people?
Well, they’ve got a plethora of DC stuff over there: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, Countdown, 52, No Man’s Land…and a whole plethora of things that aren’t in DC canon, such as Dead White, Inferno, and Wayne of Gotham (all Batman tales), Enemies and Allies (a Batman/Superman tale), It’s Superman, Mythos (a Wonder Woman tale), Stop Motion (The Flash—Wally West), Hero’s Quest (Green Lantern—Kyle Raynor), and more. Days upon days of listening, just in DC.
For Marvel, they’re really just beginning their rollout. Civil War is there, as is Iron Man: Extremis, X-Men: Gifted, and New Avengers: Breakout. There are two tales of the Ultimates, there’s the Death of Captain America, and they just added Secret Wars. Then there are a couple of one-off’s that aren’t canon anywhere, such as Spider-Man: Drowned In Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket Raccoon and Groot—Steal the Galaxy! (That one is hilarious.)
They aren’t just doing superheroes. They do all kinds of things, from sci-fi to horror to westerns. There’s even the Gospel of Mark.
So, go to GraphicAudio.net and listen to some previews if you don’t believe me. (Don’t let the cover art on some of these put you off. I love the Serrano Legacy, even though the cover art is butt-ugly.) They’re always adding more stuff (Days of Future Past is coming, as well as another Avengers story). Just make sure to come back and tell me what you think.
