What's your dream team to work with, and which project would it be for?
As creators, we have tons of stories we want to tell. It doesn't matter what your bailiwick is—at some point, we have a book we ourselves want to make. Making our own books is why we got into comics in the first place. As kids, there were characters we wished we had created—hence the outrageous number of Superman and Batman variations. But as we grew, we hopefully started to create other, more original characters. However, even as we created those characters, we had dreams of having those characters in a book that was on a comic shelf in every store across the nation, more than likely drawn by whatever artist was hot at the time.
When we decided to become creators ourselves, we still had our characters, but we learned what it took to bring a book from an idea to the shelves, and dreams of having superstar creators on our stories were quickly dashed.
I'm not talking about that. I'm not talking about reality. I'm talking about a book made with your dream creators. Past or present, it doesn't matter.
For myself, I want to have a book drawn by Adi Granov, and edited by Axel Alonso. As a writer, that's my dream team. I love looking at Adi's art, and I would work extremely hard to make the story I wrote worthy of the man. Having Alonso as my editor would also help ensure that. I loved the sensibility he was able to bring to Preacher and 100 Bullets. While I'm not saying I'm as talented as Ennis and Azzarello, I do believe that I could tell a story that would do justice to having these two creators with me. (Every story needs an editor. Every one. And having an award winning editor in my corner definitely cannot hurt.)
So, who makes up your dream team, and what project would you want them to be on with you?
